Over the years I have seen many posts of people asking ‘who does your taxes, I am looking for someone qualified’ and people have responded with DIY use Turbo Tax, UFILE, online or get the forms at the post office.
Now please understand I don’t have an issue with people doing it themselves to save a few bucks or doing it with a DIY program BUT do you know about the changes that happened with the tax rules or all of the available deductions?
Will these DIY programs ask you ALL the appropriate questions based on your SPECIFIC needs?
The software available will ask you very generic questions but no 2 people are alike nor are their situations and needs.
When there is a mess up on your taxes can you take it back to the DIY program and ask it to fix it?
Will the DIY program text you or call you while entering your data and ask you if there are other things you could be claiming as a write off?
What if you forget something, do you know how to file and amendment?
Does the DIY program back you with a guarantee?
Or Will it sit with you in the event of an audit?
Now some of you may not care but I do and that is why I say take it to a professional….get the assurance that someone will be there for you when you need them the most and that you are getting everything you are entitled to!
